I recently had the pleasure of working with a senior named Will, and let me tell you, this cowboy is the real deal! Graduating in the spring of 2025, Will embodies everything that makes a true cowboy—his love for the western lifestyle is not just a hobby but a way of life. Spending his time competing in 4H horse shows, going on trail rides, and embarking on trips out west with his family, Will's connection to ranch life and the great outdoors is undeniable.
One of Will’s biggest passions is a deep understanding of his horse. His dedication to this art shines through not just in his accomplishments but also in the way he talks about his horses, both his childhood senior horse and his younger more recent trusty steed —with a twinkle of pride and a whole lot of enthusiasm. Trail rides, too, hold a special place in his heart, as they allow him to connect with and embrace the freedom and tranquility that come with riding through open landscapes. All these elements came together beautifully during his senior photo session, where his personality and lifestyle were front and center. Him and his family usually take a trip each year somewhere special and ride.

Whether it’s showcasing your favorite hobby, spending time in a location that holds special meaning, or simply being yourself, those personal touches make all the difference.
Will’s session is proof that the most memorable photos are the ones that tell a story. His love for breakaway roping, his adventures out west, and his connection to the ranching lifestyle weren’t just themes—they were the heart of the entire shoot. As a photographer, there’s nothing more rewarding than capturing those authentic moments and preserving them for years to come.
If you’re preparing for your senior photos, take a cue from Will and let your passions shine through. Think about what makes you unique and find ways to incorporate those elements into your session. Whether it’s your favorite sport, a beloved pet, or a place that feels like home, these details help tell your story in a way that’s truly one of a kind.
PACKAGE BOOKED: Modern
Taking Will’s senior pictures was such an enjoyable experience—his easygoing personality and natural charm made the entire process effortless. From the moment he arrived in his cowboy hat, boots, and signature smile, it was clear that this session would be something special, not to mention mom pulling up with a big rig and ready to follow me through the windy curves in the sandhills. Every detail, from the way he held his lasso to the confident way he sat on his horse, reflected his authentic cowboy spirit. It’s rare to meet someone, this young and so genuinely connected to their roots, and Will made it easy to showcase that in his photos.
The session took place in settings that truly highlighted his love for ranch life. From wide open fields to rustic backdrops, every scene was a perfect reflection of who Will is. The natural lighting accentuated the textures of his cowboy hat and boots, while the calmness of the surrounding environment captured the serenity he finds in the western lifestyle. Whether he was standing tall against a backdrop of rolling hills or leaning casually on a wooden fence, every frame told a story of authenticity and pride in his way of life. One of my favorite places was an old wooden cattle chute, that set perfectly aligned with the sunsetting in the back.
What made this session truly special was how much of Will’s personality shone through. His relaxed demeanor and quiet confidence made for genuine, heartfelt moments that translated beautifully into photographs. There was no need for elaborate poses or forced smiles—his love for what he does and who he is was enough to make every shot come alive. It’s always a joy to work with someone who embraces their passions so fully, and Will’s session was a perfect example of that.
Working with Will was a reminder of why I love what I do. Capturing his genuine cowboy spirit and the essence of his western lifestyle was an absolute joy. His photos serve as a testament to the importance of staying true to yourself and celebrating the things you love. Congratulations to Will on his upcoming graduation, and here’s to a bright future filled with more adventures and countless trail rides! These types of sessions give me hope for the future generation of cowboys.
Believe me when I say this is one of the most common questions I get from my clients! It's hard to know what you're looking for until you dive into what is important to your senior!
Things to consider!
What type of hobbies / activities are you involved in?
Sports, rodeo, music, FFA, ranching / farming are all great hobbies to document during your senior session. The more hobbies you have that are dear to your heart the more time you'll require to make sure we capture it all!
What seasons do you want to capture?
I find most of my seniors who book two sessions typically book a summer and fall session. This allows you to capture the bight greens of summer and the deep oranges and coziness of fall.
Do you have a elaborate Idea in mind with lots of planning?
Sometimes our plans take a little time to layout, such as setting up jerseys and nets in the gym or trailing your horses out to the sandhills for sunset western photos. I always recommend pre planning with me to find the best session type for your needs.
Are you wanting family photos as well?
Adding a family session onto your senior session is a great way to essentially kill two birds with one stone and have the whole gang a long for your pictures. We can arrange it to be done right away or towards the end of your session
what package should I book for my senior session?
