There is something truly special about photographing seniors, and Jacob’s session was no exception. A senior graduating from Wahpeton, ND, Jacob brought his easygoing nature and genuine personality to his summer morning senior photo shoot. With a backdrop that held deep roots for his family, we captured moments that reflected not only his individuality but also the story of his generational farm—a legacy built on hard work and a love for the land.
Jacob’s family farm provided a perfect setting for his senior pictures. It was a warm, peaceful morning, and the golden summer light stretched across the fields, creating a natural glow that highlighted the farm’s beauty. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the deep connection Jacob has to this place. Surrounded by rolling fields, towering grain bins, and the powerful Case combines his family uses during the just wrapped up wheat harvest, the farm was a testament to years of dedication and pride. It was clear that this was more than just a backdrop; it was part of Jacob’s identity.

As we moved around the property, I made sure to incorporate elements of the farm that told Jacob’s story. The towering Case combines, which represent years of harvests and countless hours of dedication, became a central feature. Standing next to the massive machinery, Jacob’s pride in his family’s work was evident. His relaxed confidence in front of the camera, combined with the farm’s natural beauty, created a series of timeless images that felt both personal and powerful.
The grain bins, with their sturdy, iconic presence, served as another meaningful backdrop. These structures, standing tall against the bright blue sky, symbolized the hard work and perseverance that define life on a generational farm. Jacob’s parents shared stories of the farm’s history, and I could see how much it meant to them to have their son’s senior photos taken in a place so deeply connected to their family’s legacy.
I originally met Jacob’s parents at a wedding, where we connected over shared stories and a mutual appreciation for capturing life’s most meaningful moments. When they reached out to schedule Jacob’s senior session, I was thrilled. Meeting families who are passionate about their roots and their way of life is always inspiring, and Jacob’s family was no exception. We joked about how likely Jacob wouldn't care what we did as long as it was outdoor and at the farm, naturally speaking it's my element.
PACKAGE BOOKED: Modern
Jacob’s session wasn’t just about capturing senior photos; it was about celebrating who he is and where he comes from. The images tell a story of a young man who values his family, his heritage, and the land he calls home. As he prepares to graduate and take the next steps in his journey, these photos will serve as a reminder of the foundation that shaped him and the bright future that lies ahead.
Looking back on that summer morning, I feel so grateful to have been part of this milestone for Jacob and his family. The combination of beautiful light, meaningful locations, and authentic connections made this session truly special. Jacob’s senior pictures are more than just images; they’re a celebration of a life rooted in tradition, family, and a love for the land. It was an honor to capture these memories, and I hope they will be cherished for generations to come.
Believe me when I say this is one of the most common questions I get from my clients! It's hard to know what you're looking for until you dive into what is important to your senior!
Things to consider!
What type of hobbies / activities are you involved in?
Sports, rodeo, music, FFA, ranching / farming are all great hobbies to document during your senior session. The more hobbies you have that are dear to your heart the more time you'll require to make sure we capture it all!
What seasons do you want to capture?
I find most of my seniors who book two sessions typically book a summer and fall session. This allows you to capture the bight greens of summer and the deep oranges and coziness of fall.
Do you have a elaborate Idea in mind with lots of planning?
Sometimes our plans take a little time to layout, such as setting up jerseys and nets in the gym or trailing your horses out to the sandhills for sunset western photos. I always recommend pre planning with me to find the best session type for your needs.
Are you wanting family photos as well?
Adding a family session onto your senior session is a great way to essentially kill two birds with one stone and have the whole gang a long for your pictures. We can arrange it to be done right away or towards the end of your session
