On a steamy hot August day, Bailey and Derek tied the knot in a big cowboy celebration that perfectly blended rustic charm with western flair. Their wedding was set in a picturesque barn at the Rustic Oak in Moorhead, embracing the rugged elegance of a cowboy-inspired theme. With Bailey originally from the wide-open spaces of Montana and having moved out this way, the couple's love story was enriched by a true western spirit. I did try to convince her more then once to pack er up and let's do this in the Montana Mountains :) But this day was equally as beautiful.
The Rustic Oak venue is amazing, if you have not been to a wedding here it's like no other. So naturally, the cowboy boots, wildflowers, and western decor felt right at home. The bridal party, full of energy and laughter, added to the fun with their stylish western attire and spirited enthusiasm! Also their whole party was drop of a hat at the ready to help out with whatever was needed, these are truly my humans.
The ceremony took place beneath the cool shade of overhanging cottonwoods, overlooking the expansive prairie that echoed the spirit of Bailey’s Montana roots and the cowboy feel was real.
Their grandpa officiated the ceremony, bringing a touch of humor and heartfelt wisdom to the proceedings. His light-hearted messages about love and commitment had everyone laughing and feeling the warmth of the couple’s unique bond. In a beautiful nod to their shared commitment, Bailey and Derek branded a cowhide with their personalized brand, symbolizing their unity and dedication to each other. This is one of my favorite western wedding traditions for the unity of two becoming one.
The Ceremony
The reception at Rustic Oaks Barn was a lively celebration filled with fun, laughter, and a touch of western whimsy. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the evening, Bailey and Derek’s rough and rowdy bridal party took center stage, turning the barn into a dance floor of pure joy.
The atmosphere was electric, with everyone reveling in the festive spirit. The bridal party's playful energy was amplified by the custom shirts made for Derek, showcasing a humorous nod to his younger years that had everyone in belly roll laughs. Drinks flowed freely ( I believe at one point we had to make a pit stop for a tequila shot at the bar!) , and the sound of clinking glasses mingled with the upbeat tunes as guests danced the night away.
As the sky transformed into a stunning canvas of sunset colors, the celebration reached a poignant moment with a champagne bottles were found and we headed to the prairie again to shake those babies up and watch the bubbles flow. The bottles were passed around from bridesmaids to groomsmen and they cheered on their best friends who just said I do!
